What to Expect From a PRP Treatment?
A treatment that uses your own body to heal!
Platelet-rich plasma treatments are becoming increasingly popular as a way to help a variety of issues. PRP at Innovative Wellness Inc., Walnut Creek involves taking a small blood sample from the patient and then separating the platelets and plasma. The platelets are then injected back into the patient's skin which will help accelerate the healing of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other body parts. If you are about to begin your PRP treatment, you might feel excited and apprehensive. The prospect of returning to the activities you like without limits or suffering can brighten your day, but not knowing what to anticipate with the injections may have you on edge. This article aims to explain a little bit about the treatment and help you understand what you can expect.

How to prepare for the treatment?
Before administering, the patient must stop all anti-inflammatory and over-the-counter drugs for at least one week. This is to prevent any possible interference with the PRP response.
What to expect from your first application?
When the day of your first application comes and your PRP is ready, the area requiring treatment will be cleansed, and a local anesthetic will be used to numb the area. We will examine and determine the precise area for the injection dependent on your symptoms
What happens after the application?
After the injections, sometimes there can be a “bulky feeling” and mild discomfort after the anesthetic wears off. However, that should resolve within the first 24 hours.
There is no downtime, and you can continue your day as planned.
Are the results immediate?
PRP contains growth factors which stimulate healing. The healing process may take anything from one week to two months. Sometimes, a PRP injection alone may not be sufficient to fully and completely heal, and a second injection might be necessary. While the improvement will not be immediate, you will begin to notice changes.
